Origins of the INN Vision

It has taken many years of ministry experience and prayer to arrive at the INN building vision in its current form, but we trace its origins back to 1991, when Mike and Heather were on a retreat in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa.  Gripped by a vision of the expansive eternal Kingdom, we have searched for a way to mobilize believers into a deeper walk with Jesus, and through that to co-work with Him to impact the world. Later, in England, Mike was stirred by the importance of the inn in the Good Samaritan story, which gave birth to the forming of the vision as it is today. Our understanding has been gradually shaped and refined by experiences in varying ministry roles and activities, including pastoral, church planting, and small groups.

Mike's Background

Mike received Jesus at the age of 23 and quickly pursued a desire to be fully surrendered to Him and His purpose, becoming involved in full-time missions during his first year as a believer.  In 1988, he traveled to South Africa to embark on a year of ministry training with  Church of the Nations (COTN) – an international family of churches.  The school was focused on evangelism and church planting, with teaching, coaching, practical application, and outreach.

At the end of that year, Mike married Heather, and they have pursued God's purpose for their lives together ever since.

Mike and Heather's Ministry Credentials

Mike and Heather were mentored with COTN for two years, serving on the church leadership team, with specific responsibility for youth, schools and children's ministries.  Later, they attended the COTN International Ministry School in New York, USA. Graduating in 1991, they were commissioned by COTN's founding father Tony Fitzgerald, to undertake ministry and plant churches according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Mike and Heather still greatly appreciate Tony's ongoing fathering today, through Kingdom alignment.
